Black in interiors – opt for doors with character
Black has made an impetus into the colour palette eagerly used by architects and designers in interior design. It adds elegance, taste and luxury. It can be confidently combined with many colours to create unique and timeless combinations.
The magic of black
Black appears in décor in the form of clear accents on walls, furniture and decorative elements. Its strength lies in its ease of combination with different styles: industrial, art-deco, classic or minimalist.
It can also be used in contrasts such as with white or in a trendy combination with wood. All duos are timeless and, complemented by black accessories, bring a touch of luxury to the surrounding reality.
The character of large, post-industrial spaces is accentuated by doors in the ST CPL black veneer, which is characterised by high impact, abrasion and scratch resistance, as well as high temperature and UV radiation resistance. The ST CPL veneer in the decors white, light grey, cappuccino and black has been refined with the AntiFinger coating, which reduces dirt and fingerprints. This is an important feature that has determined the high popularity of this décor. It is worth mentioning the possibility of finishing the sash edges in the rebate-free version in plain black and transverse black. This is a unique decorative element that will provide an original finishing touch to the door.
Another detail to look out for are the black hinges on the rebate-free doors. In the rebated version, hinge caps in this colour can be used, which will create a coherent composition with the overall interior design.
The loft sliding system is also ideal for industrial interiors, with an eye-catching sliding system and black industrial and retro handles to emphasise the raw, post-industrial space.
Doors with character
The success of an interior design lies in the details and small details that enable an attractive interior to be created. The large selection of fittings for internal and external doors in the ERKADO offer will ensure that everyone will find something for themselves. Handles with square escutcheons, such as Bella Slim, Cube Premium, Cube Slim or Premium square will go perfectly with modern doors. An interesting proposition is the DECO model (catalogue page 123) distinguished by a decorative insert on the handle front, which allows for a colour-coordinated composition.
For classic models, we would suggest a selection of fittings with round escutcheons, such as: Luna Premium round, Bella Slim round. ERKADO’s offer also includes an antibacterial RUMBA handle (in black colour), which has been coated with silver ions effectively destroying bacteria accumulating on its surface. For customers looking for a premium product, we can offer the APRILE handle collection (p.125) with a square sign. Their light form combined with high aesthetics will satisfy the most demanding customers looking for original and modern solutions.
Handles with elongated escutcheons (p. 126, 127) are also available for internal and external interior doors. Black hardware goes well with many colours. When used as a contrast to white doors, they will provide a stronger accent colour and finish. On the other hand, with wood-coloured veneers they will create a colour combination that is trendy this season.
Another noteworthy solution is the innovative VSG glass in black, known as ‘safety glass’, which is smooth on both sides. It is bonded with an EVA film that prevents splashing in case of damage. It is characterised by increased sound absorption and high tensile strength. This opaque glazing is ideal for rooms such as bathrooms and bedrooms.
For bathroom doors without a ventilation cut-out, black metal sleeves can be selected. (page 132). When caring for aesthetic qualities, it is important to pay particular attention to the shape of the shaft, handle and sleeve, which should be consistent.
Unique, modern solutions
The GRAF model will fit perfectly into modern and loft interiors. These doors are made of toughened glass, otherwise known as safety glass. It is characterised by increased resistance and impact strength. They can be decorated with black or white “muntin bars”. For those who prefer simple forms, we offer doors made of 8 mm thick mass-coloured glass (GRAF 26), in a decormat version (GRAF 38). ERKADO’s offer also includes dedicated fittings in oval or rectangular shape also available in black colour. In addition to their aesthetic qualities, glass doors improve interior acoustics. They are also perfect for office buildings and other public spaces.
One of the catalogue novelties are doors with inlays (pages 80, 81). The inlays are 8 mm and 50 mm wide inserts (LUX 315 inlay), which are placed on both sides of the leaf perfectly flush with its surface. One of the colour options is black, which in combination with the colour of the wood creates this season’s fashionable combination. This is an option that we can choose not only for interior doors, but also for interiors.
It is worth remembering that the recipe for a successful interior design is moderation and harmony, which in the case of black colour gives the interior an elegant and unusual character. Therefore, when choosing doors, special attention should be paid to accessories (VSG glass, hinges, fittings), thanks to which they will become a unique showpiece of our interior.
